Welcome 2024-2025

Welcome to Illinois District Teen Bible Quizzing

Thank you all for your involvement with Teen Bible Quizzing.

This year we will be studying Luke (NIV 2011).

I have been involved with quizzing for many years (as a quizer, coach, and quiz master). Teen quizzing has a special place in my heart. I love the energy that teens have. It brings joy to my heart to know that teens are learning God’s word and hiding it in their hearts.

I believe in Teen quizzing. It helps us build a connection with one another. Our relationships and friendships with one another (officials, coaches, parents, and our teens) can grow, flourish, and be strengthened through our time together each month.  I look forward to seeing everyone this fall – and I’m praying for some new churches to join us!

Please join me in praying for this quiz season and the impact it can have on all who are involved.

Following is general information about the quizzing program.  If you need more specific information or would like some hands-on assistance in your local program, please let me know.  I would be happy to help!

DATES, TIMES, LOCATIONS - We meet once each month from September through March at various locations around the district (excluding the month of December, when the top 10 qualifying district quizzers attend the St. Louis Top Ten Quiz).
Registration for the monthly quizzes begins around 9:45 a.m., with quizzing starting at 10 a.m. and running until approximately 3 p.m. This timeframe includes a break for lunch.

RESOURCES - There are great resources available on the internet, some of them being:

http://nyiconnect.com/youth-quizzing

https://www.thefoundrypublishing.com/youthtop/quizzing.html

https://youthbiblequiz.weebly.com/equip.html There are lots of resources on this website. One of the main resources is digital scoresheets. Both for iOS Numbers and MS Excel. There are digital scoresheets for 2 or 3 team quizzing. The digital scoresheets can be found under the heading ‘Tools for Coaches’.

https://www.teenbiblequiz.com/

https://webapp.youthquiz.com/ (this is the web based app for quizzing, a subscription is needed for some of the features)

www.jingleseeds.com offers CD’s (verses put to music) and flashcards for the designated memory verses. I haven’t explored this site too much myself, but others on the district have and their quizzers have benefited from having the CD.

Additionally, I would strongly encourage networking with other coaches on the district, many of whom have a wealth of experience, ideas, and enthusiasm they are willing to share with you.

EQUIPMENT – these websites all offer quizzing equipment. Most Nazarene programs use equipment from the first option, but feel free to look over all of them to decide what works best for your program.

These are only starting points for the wonderful world of Teen Bible Quizzing.  Please contact me (217-714-7753 or elizabeth111577@ymail.com) if I can help you in any way.

This year we will be covering Acts.

Please Note that Covid-19 is still around and may have an impact on the upcoming quiz season. Right now I'm proceeding to do quizzing as usual, but at any time things may need to be adjusted. Please keep this in mind and let your teens know this as well – necessary adjustments will require flexibility, patience and understanding on everyone’s part.

With all of us working together, this program can flourish.

A New Thing!

Posted 16 Nov, 2021 05:44 PM by Karl

Welcome to the Illinois District Bible Quizzing Web Site.  Using this site will make it easier to register teams for quizzes, for the director to schedule the quiz day, and for generating all stats and results - quickly and easily.

There will be some skills for us all to learn first, and we will do our best to bring all users - coaches, officials, anyone else - up to speed on those.

First - each user needs to create their login.  Go to "Signup" at the top of the screen and click it, then fill in the information.  Your email address is your username.  Then select a password of your own choosing.  Add other pertinent information and...  Voila!  Login created!  After this, check your email for a link to activate your account - and do that.

Second - coaches need to create their list of quizzers.  Go to this site and login.  Click on "Modify quizzers" in the right sidebar.  Enter each quizzer's name on one line - use Enter/Return to enter the next quizzer on the line below.  Do your best to spell each name correctly.  But you CAN go back and edit this list.  You can add quizzers later.  You can remove quizzers after they graduate.  You can correct any unfortunate misspellings.  Your list of quizzers stays with you until you change them.

Third - when registration opens for a quiz, you can register your team.  You will name a team, then select from your quizzer list when registering the team.  If you have two or more teams, you register first one team, then the next - drawing from the same pool of quizzers.  And so forth.  We will announce before the quiz when registration opens and when registration closes, so you know when you can do this.

Thank you!
